I am so pleased to release this collection. It has been a long time in coming and it all started with cloud gazing.
I love clouds. I love how they are always changing and moving. I love how the same cloud that is over me could move and then be over you. When I’m driving I often point out beautiful cloud formations with great excitement. So much excitement and so often that my two-year-old has caught on and now says, “Look at the pretty clouds, Mama! Pretty clouds for you!”
I’m not going to even mention the embarrassing number of photos I have taken of clouds that fill my camera roll. But it makes me a student, to study those clouds. A student who then unleashes what she observes to her paintbrush. And once I started painting clouds I just couldn’t stop and a collection came to be. A collection of paintings that celebrate clouds. From different parts of the country even, these clouds came and joined together in Clouds for the Sky.
While naming each painting, I chose words from a poem by John Wilson called The Evening Cloud.
A cloud lay cradled near the setting sun,
A gleam of crimson tinged its braided snow;
Long had I watched the glory moving on
O’er the still radiance of the lake below.
Tranquil its spirit seemed, and floated slow!
Even in its very motion there was rest;
While every breath of eve that chanced to blow
Wafted the traveller to the beauteous west.
Emblem, methought, of the departed soul!
To whose white robe the gleam of bliss is given,
And by the breath of mercy made to roll
Right onwards to the golden gates of heaven,
Where to the eye of faith it peaceful lies,
And tells to man his glorious destinies.
And so, I invite you to view the collection. I hope you see the beauty of the clouds as you look at each piece and the landscape that accompanies it.
